Sometimes in the midst of running reports and looking a different numbers, you see something that makes you sit back and remember all that God has done since Mission:Chad was started in 2004. This happened to me recently when I saw that the grand total of all giving to Mission:Chad had passed the million dollar mark ($1,017,599 the last time I looked).
Out of this amount that has been given, over 94% has been sent to projects in Chad, about 2% has been used for project expenses (mostly travel to Chad), about 2% has been used for administrative expenses (mostly travel expenses for Pastor Bako for fund raising, newsletters and wire transfer fees) and we have about 2% as our current balance. We are glad that all expenses have been covered by specific donations for that purpose and all funds specified to projects go to the project without an administrative assessment.
However, just thinking about the numbers wasn't that inspiring. What really caused me to sit back and take notice was to remember all that this represents in the lives of our partners in Chad. At Village Altonodji, there are dormitories, class rooms, teachers, administrators, widows caring for the orphans and much more. At ESTES, there are professors who have been able to continue at their work since they had a salary, there is a day care center for the children of students and there is an ice business that we pray will produce income for years to come.
Together, we have been able to each give as God enabled and produced more than any of would have expected.
