Container arrives at Village Altonodji

Container being off-loaded at the Village

Container Arrives at Village Altonodji!

The shipping container loaded at Spanish River Church in Boca Raton, Florida, with valuable supplies has finally arrived at it's destination at the Village Altonodji orphan center. The container which has been "in transit" for 5-months was, at times, thought to be lost. In response to discouraging information which had been coming out of Cameroon and Chad last month, it became obvious that our prayers were needed to bring the container home.

Pastor Bako, who is just back from Moundou, reports that there were "tears of joy" among the orphans at the sight of the container making it's way into the Village Altonodji campus.

We give thanks to God who has answered our prayer and delivered the container safely.

ESTES Community Mourns Loss of Student

As happens all too often in Chad, a first year student, Joël Allanaissem, was called home to be with the Lord yesterday morning after suffering from malaria. Joël leaves behind a widow and children who are now orphans. The members of Mission:Chad have grown close to the small Bible College community and mourn with them for their sudden loss. Please pray for the Allanaissem family and their friends.

Aid Sent to ESTES Bible College Community

Mardochee Nadoumngar, Director of ESTES Bible College, used funds sent by Mission:Chad to purchased rice, sugar and soap. 54 families and 7 single persons, both students and faculty, were the recipients of these commodities.

Mardochee told us; "We are so thankful to the Lord for these provisions and we would like to thank you so much for your concern, love and generosity toward us in this situation of difficulties."

Those students and faculty that left their homes to escape the fighting have returned; classed resumed 5 days ago.

Brief Message from SCPEDT Secretary

The secretary for SCPEDT (our sister organization in Chad) Claire Nekouanodji, has contacted us to let us know she and her family is "by God's grace", fine. She met with Pastor Bako at church this last Sunday.

She returned to work for the first time only to find that all their office resources had been stolen during the looting that took place during the fighting.

Claire asks that we continue to pray for them.

 Pastor Bako "Still Alive...Praise God!"

"I am still alive and praise God for that" are the first words from Pastor Bako as he reports in to us for the first time since rebel forces invaded the capitol city a week ago. He thanked us for our concern during the worst period of trauma he's ever experienced.

Pastor Bako writes; "During all the time of war I had been in the city trying to help women and children to get out in Kousseri. Many families had been hidden at my home and looked for refuge ...People looked at me for assistance and I couldn't leave them. Thank you so much for your prayers. There are now 34,000 children and 4000 adult refugees in Kousseri (Cameroon) waiting to come back to N'djamena one day. The market of millet in N'djamena had been burnt out. People are in need of food, blankets and medicines now. These are the problems I am facing with people at (the) moment."

The Village Altonodji orphan center is 250 miles away and is reportedly safe, but is in need of food for the orphans and widows living there.

Pastor Bako makes this final plea to us in closing: "For the emergency need, please you can assist me to help people from churches that lost everything as well as the orphans at VA. This is my SOS call at this time of crisis."

First Report from Chad

First contact has now been made with one of our partners in Chad. All telephone and internet communication is down; only individuals crossing into neighboring Cameroon are able to complete calls. Mardochee Nadoumngar, Director of ESTES bible college has contacted us to let us know they are all safe but has need for food and medicine. He has not yet heard from Pastor Bako, but knows he is alive somewhere.

Mardochee tells us "Thank you so much for your prayer. The Lord has protected us through this war as all of us we were laying down in our living room praying the Lord to protect our lives. Many soldiers (on government side as well as on rebels' side) and civilians were killed but none of us has loss his life. Praise the Lord! ...please pray that the Lord would bring peace in Chad."
